イタリア・ミラノで長年バッグデザイナーとして活動していく中で、移り変わりが早いファッションの 世界や、大量生産で次々と廃棄されるシステムにだんだん疑問を感じていくようになりました。

あらゆる制約を一度全て手放し、自由に、そして職人さんとじっくり向き合って、BAGを作品として 作っていきたいと模索を始めたところ、偶然の重なりで幼少期育ったインドネシアの縁で出会ったのが バリ島の職人さんたちでした。様々な素材の工房を訪ねて歩いた時、無限の可能性を秘めたものと出会ってしまった、とドキドキした ものです。

ASKA MASUDA -Artisan Series-のバッグは、幼少時を過ごしたインドネシア、 ２６年間暮らしバッグデザイナーとして活動したイタリア、 そして母国である日本、ゆかりのある３つの国の素材とものづくりの伝統を融合させ、 ユニークに表現した新しい世界観のバッグです。 出会った時のトキメキと出かける時のワクワク感を皆様に感じていただけるような 存在感のあるバッグを追求しています。

ASKA MAUSDA -artisan series-

From 1999 onwards I continued producing my own bag collections in Italy for 10 years.            However I started to question the fashion world with its needs for constant change and the mass production that is needed to keep up with it. Year by year my desire to create “Handmade” bags in close collaboration with craftsmen grew and finally chance led me to Bali where I was introduced to excellent craftspeople. Using high quality materials from Italy, Japan, and Bali, my bags are produced by selected craftspeople working exclusively for me. In order to archieve the same quality as it found in "Made in Italy".   We have had to go to great lengths to train and guide the people who work for us and to maintain that quality. I have close connections with Three countries :
 INDONESIA where I spent my childhood ;
ITALY where I lived for 26 years and actively worked as a bag designer ;
JAPAN my home country. Now I manage to integrate the traditional craftsmanship and materials of these three countries in to my new collection. I am now going forwards creating new handbags that makes you heartbeating when you first meet, and excite you when you go out with it.

Born in Tokyo.
Spent her childhood in Jakarta, Indonesia for 5 years due to her father’s job. 

1989
Moved to Italy. After graduating in sculpture at the Brera Academy in Milan, Italy, she was involved in commercial design and also in bag design.

From 1998 to 2009
Carried out activities of her own label, ASKA MASUDA Made in Italy. The label expanded to famous department stores and boutique both within and outside Japan. (Including Barneys, Isetan, HankyuUmeda, Takashimaya, Estnation, Via Bus Stop, and United Arrows in Japan; Printemps in Paris; Selfridge in London; Marisa, Gente, and Barrows in Italy; Saks Fifth Avenue in Dubai; Joyce and It in Hong Kong, and Podium in Moscow.) Also engaged in design consultation for various apparel makers and companies.

2012
Presented ARTISAN SERIES, which were created by the handwork of Italian craftsmen using top quality materials.

2013
Started collaboration with craftsmen in Bali.

2015
In September, the first personal exhibition at DEE’S HALL (in Tokyo) Presented ARTISAN SERIES -primo passo-, the collaborative works with the Balinese craftsmen.

2016
Exhibitions are planned to be held in galleries and department stores in Tokyo and other regional cities in Japan.
